Rolex Submariner: Iconic, legendary timepiece

The Rolex Submariner, or to give its full name, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner is the most famous watch in the world and our best seller (by a mile!). Why? Because the ‘Sub’ has a simple, timeless design that makes it super versatile. It is also built like a tank and is super tough. Originally designed to be a dive watch, the modern Submariner still meets rigorous standards being manufactured from 904L steel and is waterproof up to 300 meters. Rolex actually invented one of the first waterproof wristwatches – the Rolex Oyster – in 1926, but we had to wait until 1953 for the first Submariner. The iconic Sub – or to give its full name: the Oyster Perpetual Rolex Submariner comes with in a 40 mm case manufactured from 904L steel with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp with Rolex Glidelock extension system – for a perfect fit.

Rolex Submariner models and nicknames

There are many Sub models including versions in Stainless Steel, Two Tone, and Solid 18k Gold – each with their own nicknames. Our most popular model is probably the Submariner Date (ref.126610LN) which retails for around $22,000. Other Submariner models at different price points include the much-in-demand:

• ‘Hulk’, with a green bezel and dial (ref: 116610LV)
• ‘Kermit’, with a green bezel and black dial  (ref: 16610LV).
• ‘Two-tone’ white gold with blue dial and bezel – the ‘Submariner Blue’ or ‘Smurf'(ref: 116619LB)
• Yellow gold model with a black dial and bezel (ref: 116618LN)
• Re-released ‘Smurf’, a Rolex Submariner Date in white gold but with a black dial (ref: 126619LB).
